Backwards ride-alating and gummy bear machines

One of our favourite parts of airports are the ride-alators. You can walk or not walk. You can go backwards. We did. You have time to look at the people. You can enjoy watching the late ones run to their gate, desperation in their eyes.

We are almost never late thanks to Geoff's tolerance of my need to be early.

At Pudong today (not really today anymore. The other day) there was a fair bit of queuing, but reasonable efficiency.

Online check-in was gold. Big queue jump right there.

Extra bonus item was, for a change, that G was selected for the extra security scan with wand. I especially enjoyed watching that from the freedom of the other side.

In the interests of using up some of our remaining renminbi we bought some gummy bears from a vending machine. Also excellent pre-flight entertainment.

We think one of the finnair pilots walked briskly past while we were buggering about on the ride-alator, so we tried to get a sense of his reliability and pondered the state of his domestic relationships. If you are reading this post you can probably conclude that all is well and he delivered us safely to Helsinki. (Gentle readers, he did.)

Don't worry about the gummy bear wrappers. We are tidy kiwis and used the appropriate receptacle:
