Nature

Even though we were staying next to a park we didn't see a lot of bird or animal life during our stay in Shanghai.  This picture was taken from the train near Pudong airport, in the new development area.  There are lots of green fields, paddocks and planting out here.  And we saw ducks, herons, geese and goats.  We saw pigeons out here too.

In town we heard some evidence of bird life, but the only ones we saw were the paper kind: kites flown in the park.  I didn't manage a picture of the small bird kite, but the last pic (below) was taken at Zhongshang Park, where several people were flying kites after work.

We also spotted a ginger cat, climbing a tree in the park, which caused increasingly frantic squawks from an invisible bird somewhere in the trees.

The lily pond near the Yuyuan Gardens.  Lots of goldfish, carp and turtles swimming in the pond - as well as some lovely ducks.
